Nigerian Law School Extends 2025/2026 Application Deadline to January 31, 2026

In a move that offers relief to aspiring lawyers across the country, the Council of Legal Education (CLE) has announced an extension of the application deadline for admission into the Nigerian Law School 2025/2026 academic session.

According to an official public notice, candidates now have until Friday, 31 January 2026, to complete and submit their application forms. However, the Council has made it clear that this extension comes with a final warning: no late submissions will be accepted after the new deadline.

What Changed?

The original application deadline has been shifted, giving prospective applicants extra time to finalize their documentation and submissions.

New Application Deadline:
Friday, 31 January 2026

The notice emphasizes that any application submitted after this date will not be entertained under any circumstance.

Instructions for Pending Applications

The public notice, signed by the Secretary to the Council and Director of Administration, also addressed candidates with incomplete or pending submissions.

All pending applications must be forwarded to the Office of the Secretary to the Council and Director of Administration on or before 31 January 2026 to allow for proper and timely processing.

In simple terms, applicants are advised not to leave their forms “hanging” in departments or offices, as delays could cost them admission for the session.

What Applicants Should Do Now

Prospective Nigerian Law School candidates are expected to:

  • Complete their application forms in full
  • Submit all required documents on or before Friday, 31 January 2026
  • Ensure that any pending applications are promptly forwarded to the appropriate office
  • Avoid waiting until the last minute to prevent errors or disqualification

No Further Extensions

The Council of Legal Education was firm in its position: applications received after 31 January 2026 will not be considered. Applicants are therefore urged to act promptly and treat this extension as a final opportunity.

Why This Matters

Admission into the Nigerian Law School is a compulsory step for law graduates seeking to be called to the Nigerian Bar. Missing the application deadline could mean waiting an entire academic year.

For candidates still completing their submissions, this extension is a critical window that should not be wasted.
