LASU Announces Vacancies for Three Director Positions, Sets Six-Week Application Deadline

Lagos State University (LASU) has opened applications for three senior Director-level positions, as the institution begins a fresh round of top administrative appointments approved by its Governing Council.

The vacancies, announced under the Lagos State University Law, 2004 (as amended), are for leadership roles in Works and Physical Planning, Sports and Recreation, and the University Multimedia Centre. Interested and qualified candidates have six weeks from the date of publication to submit their applications to the University Registrar.

Post 1: Director, Directorate of Works and Physical Planning

Role Overview

The Director reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor and oversees the maintenance and development of all physical infrastructure across LASU campuses.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A good honours degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building, Quantity Surveying, Structural Engineering, or Town Planning
  • 18 years post-qualification experience
  • A relevant higher degree
  • At least 5 years as a Deputy Director of Works and Physical Planning in a university or similar institution
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g. NSE, COREN, CORBON, NIQS)
  • ICT proficiency

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervising infrastructure maintenance
  • Preparing estimates and bills of quantities
  • Coordinating routine maintenance across Faculties and Units
  • Certifying quality control of building materials
  • Performing other duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor

Post 2: Director, Directorate of Sports and Recreation

Role Overview

The Director coordinates and manages all sports and recreational activities for students and staff.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A good honours degree in Sports Science and Human Kinetics or Physical and Health Education
  • 15 years post-qualification experience
  • A relevant higher degree
  • 5 years as a Deputy Director of Sports and Recreation in a university or similar body
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies
  • ICT proficiency

Key Responsibilities

  • Organising sports leagues, fitness programmes, and recreation events
  • Preparing annual sports calendars
  • Managing sports facilities and equipment
  • Budgeting, fundraising, and sponsorship management
  • Other duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor

Post 3: Director, University Multimedia Centre

Role Overview

The Director oversees all multimedia and digital content services of the University.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A good honours degree from a recognised institution
  • A relevant higher degree
  • 15 years relevant experience, including computer-based linear and non-linear editing
  • 5 years as Deputy Director, University Multimedia Centre or equivalent
  • Skills in AI tools, editing software, and online streaming platforms
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating multimedia services
  • Managing multimedia production from concept to final output
  • Supporting University events and digital communication needs
  • Other duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor

Tenure, Age Limit, and Salary Structure

Tenure

  • The appointment is for one non-renewable term of five (5) years.

Age Requirement

  • Applicants must not be above 60 years by March 2026.

Remuneration

  • Salary is CONUNASS 15, with all applicable benefits and allowances for Directors in Nigerian public universities, as approved by the LASU Governing Council.
