Andela, CNCF Open Applications for 2026 Kubernetes African Developer Training

Applications are now open for the 2026 Andela–CNCF Kubernetes African Developer Training Program, a large-scale initiative designed to equip African technologists with in-demand cloud-native skills.

The program is a partnership between Andela, the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), and Linux Foundation Education, with a bold goal: to train between 20,000 and 30,000 developers across Africa in the fundamentals of Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.

As global demand for cloud-native developers continues to rise, the organisers say the training is structured to help African technologists compete effectively for jobs worldwide.

Applications close on 15 February 2026.

What the Program Is About

The 2026 training focuses on Kubernetes and Cloud Native Essentials, a professional course hosted on the Linux Foundation learning platform.

Kubernetes has become a core technology for deploying, scaling, and managing modern applications. This program introduces participants to the concepts and tools that power today’s cloud infrastructure, while preparing them for real-world technical roles.

Program Duration and Learning Format

The training runs for seven (7) weeks and uses a blended learning approach designed to keep participants engaged from start to finish.

Participants will learn through:

Self-paced online lessons
Mentor-led guidance sessions
Peer-to-peer learning and group discussions

This structure allows learners to study at their own pace while still benefiting from expert support and collaboration with fellow developers.

What Participants Will Study

All selected participants will complete the “Kubernetes and Cloud Native Essentials” course provided by the Linux Foundation.

Who Can Apply? (Requirements)

Applicants are expected to have foundational technical knowledge before joining the program. According to the organisers, ideal candidates should have:

A solid understanding of Linux commands
Basic knowledge of networking and cloud computing
Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerisation technologies
Experience using package managers
Working knowledge of Git and GitHub
