Maduka University Debunks Viral Security Claims, Clarifies Death of Nursing Student
Maduka University has strongly dismissed a viral video claiming that Fulani bandit settlements exist near its campus, describing the allegation as false, misleading, and designed to create fear among students, parents, and the public.
In a detailed statement released by the university management, officials said the video is part of repeated attempts over the past three years to spread panic and damage the institution’s reputation.
University: Campus Is Safe and Secure
According to the management, the video falsely suggests that criminal groups operate close to the university. Maduka University insists this claim has no factual basis.
“The campus remains safe, well-guarded, and protected by appropriate security arrangements,” the statement said.
The university confirmed that academic activities, staff duties, and student life continue normally without any security threat. It also noted that it maintains constant collaboration with recognised security agencies to ensure the safety of everyone within and around the campus.
Members of the public were urged to ignore the alarmist video, remain calm, and rely only on information released through the university’s official communication channels.
University Clarifies Reports on Death of Nursing Student
Maduka University also addressed widespread online reports surrounding the tragic death of a nursing student, stating that many of the claims circulating are inaccurate and misleading.
What the University Says Happened
According to the official account:
- The student arrived at the university medical centre already ill.
- She was transported by the university ambulance, not by friends and not on foot.
- Claims that a diclofenac injection was administered are false; no such medication was given.
- She arrived at about 9:30 p.m. and was attended to immediately by the doctor on duty.
- Medical assessments were conducted, appropriate treatment was provided, and a working diagnosis was made following standard emergency care procedures.
- The student initially showed signs of improvement and was placed under close medical observation with full nursing care throughout the night.
At around 4:00 a.m., nurses observed a sudden change in her condition and promptly alerted the on-call doctor. She was then transferred without delay to another hospital using the university’s 24-hour ambulance service for advanced emergency care.
The university also dismissed claims that a doctor personally drove the ambulance, stressing that the transfer was handled by trained ambulance personnel in line with standard medical practice.
Undisclosed Medical Condition
Maduka University revealed that the student had a pre-existing long-term medical condition that had not been disclosed prior to the emergency, noting that this condition played a significant role in the outcome.
The management expressed deep sympathy with the student’s family and friends, describing the incident as a painful loss of a young life with great promise.
Reports alleging medical negligence, wrong treatment, or abandonment, the university said, do not reflect the actions taken by its medical team.
Call for Responsible Reporting
Maduka University reaffirmed its commitment to student welfare, healthcare services, and transparency. It also confirmed its full cooperation with the student’s family during this difficult period.
The management expressed concern that such a tragic event has been used to damage the institution’s image without proper verification of facts.
“We urge the public to avoid spreading rumours and to seek accurate information from official sources,” the statement concluded
