Nigerian Army Announces SSCC 49/2026 Shortlist, Selection Board Begins December 1

The Nigerian Army has officially released the list of successful candidates for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 49/2026. The full list is now available exclusively on the Nigerian Army recruitment portal and shortlisted candidates are expected to proceed to the Selection Board at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Ribadu Campus (Old Site), Kaduna State.

According to the Army’s schedule, the Selection Board exercise will run from December 1 to December 19, 2025. Candidates are strongly advised to arrive in Kaduna by November 30, 2025, and must report at the venue between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on December 1.
Any candidate who arrives after 11:00 a.m. will be automatically disqualified.

Mandatory Documents for Screening

The Selection Board will conduct strict document verification. Candidates must present original copies and at least two photocopies, all neatly arranged in a file jacket.

Academic and Identification Documents

  • All academic and professional certificates, including testimonials
  • NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter (where applicable)
  • Valid birth certificate issued by one of the following:
    • National Population Commission
    • Government-approved hospital
    • Local government of birth
    • Or a valid age declaration
  • Certificate of state of origin
  • Printed Bank Verification Number (BVN) certificate authenticated by a bank
  • National Identification Number (NIN) slip or card
  • Completed SSCC application print-outs and referee forms

Personal Items to Bring for the Exercise

Candidates will stay at the Selection Board location for the entire duration. While accommodation and feeding will be provided, each participant must bring personal essentials.

Clothing and Footwear

  • Three pairs of blue shorts
  • Three plain white T-shirts (short sleeves)
  • One pair of white canvas shoes or trainers
  • Three pairs of white socks

Basic Supplies and Hygiene Items

  • Writing materials
  • Bucket and toiletries
  • Cutlery set (plate, spoon, cup)
  • Bedding (blanket, bedspread, pillowcases)

Photographs

  • Four recent full-size colored photographs (standing, in suit)
  • Four recent passport photographs

Mandatory Letter of Consent

Each shortlisted candidate must present a Letter of Consent from a parent or guardian. This letter must be:

  • Signed by the parent or guardian
  • Issued at a recognized court of law
  • Endorsed by a Commissioner of Oath
  • A declaration that no claims or compensation will be demanded in case of injury or death during the Selection Board activities

Stages of the Screening Exercise

Candidates must prepare for a series of assessments, including:

  • Document and certificate verification
  • Physical fitness tests
  • Medical examinations
  • Academic assessment
  • Oral interview

Any alteration, correction, or erasure on documents will render them invalid and may lead to immediate disqualification.

Movement, Vehicles, and Visitor Restrictions

During the entire exercise:

  • Candidates must fund their own transportation to and from Kaduna
  • Personal or private vehicles are not allowed
  • No visitors are permitted throughout the Selection Board period

Discipline and Conduct

The Nigerian Army warns that discipline will be strictly enforced. Any candidate who violates instructions or rules at any point will be dismissed from the Selection Board.
The Army also notes that due to the military nature of the exercise, it will not be liable for injuries or deaths that may occur during the process.

Final Reminder

Shortlisted candidates for the SSCC Course 49/2026 must report to the NDA Ribadu Campus (Old Site), Kaduna on December 1, 2025, between 6 a.m. and 11 a.m. Late arrival results in automatic disqualification.
