DUFUTH Opens Application for Director of Administration

David Umahi Federal University Teaching Hospital (DUFUTH) has announced an open call for qualified and experienced administrators to fill the pivotal role of Director of Administration. This strategic position reports directly to the Chief Medical Director and plays a central role in ensuring smooth hospital operations.

The announcement invites eligible candidates from government establishments to apply, while students and early-career staff are encouraged to share the information with senior colleagues who may meet the qualifications.

Role Overview
The Director of Administration will:

  • Advise the Chief Medical Director on general administrative matters.
  • Serve as Secretary to the Board of Management.
  • Oversee hospital administrative departments and coordinate support services.
  • Manage official correspondence and maintain hospital records.
  • Assist with policy development and implementation.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Board or Chief Medical Director.

Qualifications & Experience
Candidates must:

  • Hold a first degree in Hospital/Health Services Management, Humanities, or Social Sciences.
  • Have at least 20 years of administrative experience in government service.
  • Currently hold or have held the position of Deputy Director for at least 2 years.
  • Possess a Master’s or higher degree (advantageous).
  • Be ICT proficient and an Associate member of the Institute of Health Administrators of Nigeria (IHSAN).

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily administration across all hospital units.
  • Advise the Chief Medical Director on staff and administrative matters.
  • Maintain minutes and records as Secretary to the Board.
  • Supervise personnel, general administration, and support departments.
  • Ensure all official correspondence and records are accurately maintained.

Tenure & Conditions
The Director will hold office until reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60 or completing 35 years of total public service, whichever comes first. Salary and benefits align with the approved Public Service Salary Structure for senior officers.
