Explanation

Moses cried to God and the Lord instructed him to stretch his rod over the Sea and divide it. The anger of God who went before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, the pillar of cloud that moved before them stood behind them in between the host of Egypt and Israel. Moses stretched his rod over the sea as the Lord had commanded him and the sea divided and the host of Israel went forth on a dry ground. The Egyptians pursued them into the middle of the sea. The Lord discomfited the host of the Egyptians, clogging their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. Moses, by the instruction of God stretched back his rod over the sea and the water returned. The Egyptian soldiers were all drowned and they perished.' Ex. 14:13-14
