At Paphos, Paul and Barnabas came in contact with a Jewish false prophet who was also a magician. He was named Bar-jesus or Elymas. He was with the Proconsul, Sergius Paulus, a man of intelligence. Paul and Barnabas were summoned by the Proconsul, so as to hear the word of God from them. But Elymas challenged them in order to render invalid their preaching. Paul, being filled with the Holy Spirit, struck Elymas with blindness. Acts.13:4-13
