The thromboplastin in the presence ofcalcium ions, vitamin K converts soluble plasma protein calle: prothrombin toan enzyme called thrombin. This enzyme converts anothe' soluble plasma proteincalled fibrin into an insoluble threads called fibrins The fibrins cluster atthe surface of the wound to prevent red blood cells from coming out.
