Heterotrophs are organisms that cannot synthesize their own food. They therefore depend directly or indirectly on the food synthesized by green plants. Examples are fungi, animals and autotrophic bacteria. Fungi have body made up of several hyphae collectively called my Cilium. Fungi exist as parasitic or saprophytic organisms and not as filamentous ones. Saprophytic fungi have root like structures called rhizoids.
