Anabaena just like other blue  green algae like oscillatoria and Nostoc are found mainly in fresh water and damp places on land. They have dispersed or patches of chlorophyll throughout the cytoplasm ie. chlorophyll note closed with the chloroplasts for trapping light energy for" photosynthesis. They exist as single ceils or colonies of long chains of identical ceils.
