Fig.I is the lag phase with a period of slow growth because only few cells arepresent in the environment. Figures II and III are the log phase marking the period of rapid growth because many cells are involved. The rapid growth continues until it readied it's maximum (i.e. Under optimal environmental resistence).Fig. IV is the stationary phase when there is no further increase in the number of cells because the carrying capacity of the environment has been reached.
