YABATECH Bans Final-Year Sign-Out Activities After Exams, Warns of Strict Disciplinary Action
The management of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) has announced an immediate ban on all final-year sign-out activities traditionally carried out after the completion of final examination papers, warning that violators will face disciplinary sanctions.
In a circular issued by the Centre for Information, Communication and Public Relations, the institution made it clear that the directive takes immediate effect and applies to all final-year students across departments and schools.
What the ban covers
According to the statement, the prohibition extends to all forms of post-examination sign-out activities, whether organized formally or informally. Final-year students are expressly barred from organizing, supporting, or participating in any sign-out exercise once their examinations conclude.
The college emphasized that the move is aimed at maintaining order, discipline, and safety on campus during the post-examination period.
Consequences for offenders
YABATECH warned that any student or group of students found violating the directive will be referred to the College Disciplinary Panel. The panel will determine appropriate sanctions in line with the institution’s regulations.
“The warning is clear, and it comes with consequences,” the management stated, stressing that ignorance of the directive will not be accepted as an excuse.
Enforcement by Deans and HODs
To ensure full compliance, the management has directed Deans of Schools and Heads of Departments (HODs) to actively enforce the ban. They are also tasked with sensitizing final-year students on the implications of non-compliance and ensuring the message is clearly communicated within their departments.
Immediate implementation
The directive is effective immediately, and all concerned students are expected to comply strictly from now onward.
For final-year students preparing to conclude their academic journey at YABATECH, the message from management is unambiguous: celebrations that disrupt campus order will not be tolerated.
