USLF Launches ₦1 Million Essay Competition for Students in Sokoto, Kebbi & Zamfara
In a powerful move to engage young minds on critical national issues, the Umaru Shinkafi Legacy Foundation (USLF) has unveiled its first-ever essay competition — and it’s open exclusively to students in Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states.
This initiative is part of the upcoming Shinkafi Intelligence and Security Summit (SISS), and it’s not just another writing contest — it’s a platform for the youth to weigh in on the urgent matter of insecurity in Nigeria.
Essay Theme
“Socio-Economic Implications of Kidnapping and Banditry in Nigeria”
This theme reflects one of Nigeria’s most pressing challenges, especially in the North. Participants are expected to offer deep insights and suggest practical solutions — a chance to be heard, not just graded.
Who Can Apply?
If you check these boxes, you’re eligible:
- Aged between 16 and 25
- Currently studying in a tertiary institution (university, polytechnic, college of education, etc.)
- School must be located in Sokoto, Kebbi, or Zamfara
- Institution can be public or private
Essay Guidelines
Your entry must meet these requirements:
- Length: 2,000 – 2,500 words
- Font: Times New Roman, size 12, spacing 1.5
- Format: PDF only
- Originality: Absolutely no plagiarism — all entries will be scanned.
- ID Requirement: A valid student ID must be attached to your email.
Prize Breakdown
There’s more than just recognition up for grabs:
- 1st Prize: ₦1,000,000
- 2nd Prize: ₦500,000
- 3rd Prize: ₦300,000
