UNIZIK Releases 2025/2026 Admission Formula: Full Breakdown for UTME and Direct Entry Candidates

The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has officially released the formula it will use to admit candidates for the 2025/2026 academic session. The system will apply to Post-UTME, Direct Entry, and other screening processes, giving candidates a clear guide on how their scores will be calculated.

Unlike guesswork in the past, UNIZIK has introduced a strict but transparent automated system that combines UTME scores with O’level results in a set ratio. While the method ensures fairness, the university has also warned that failure to follow instructions carefully could lead to disqualification.

Key Instructions for UNIZIK 2025 Applicants

Before calculating your admission score, here are critical steps candidates must follow:

  1. Upload your O’level results only at JAMB-accredited CBT centres or JAMB offices.
  2. Avoid cyber cafés, as results uploaded there may not be recognized.
  3. Ensure you upload the same O’level results on both JAMB CAPS and the UNIZIK portal.

Note: Skipping any of these steps may automatically disqualify you.

How the UNIZIK Admission Formula Works

The screening system combines your UTME score (70%) and your O’level grades (30%) to calculate your final score.

Grading of O’level Results:

  • A1 = 90 points
  • B2 = 80 points
  • B3 = 70 points
  • C4 = 60 points
  • C5 = 55 points
  • C6 = 50 points
  • D7, E8, F9, or AR (Awaiting Result) = 0 points

➡️ Only the same four subjects you sat for in UTME will be considered in O’level grading.

Bonus Points:

  • One sitting = +10 points
  • Two sittings = no bonus

UNIZIK Admission Formula

Final Score = (UTME score × 0.7) + {(O’level score + Bonus) × 0.3}

Example Calculation

Candidate with 285 UTME score and the following O’level grades:

  • English – B3 = 70
  • Biology – A1 = 90
  • Physics – C4 = 60
  • Chemistry – B2 = 80

Total O’level score = 300

  • Single sitting: (285 × 0.7) + {(300 + 10) × 0.3} = 292.5
  • Two sittings: (285 × 0.7) + {(300 + 0) × 0.3} = 289.5

Difference: just 3 points – but those points can make or break admission chances.

Final Note for Candidates

UNIZIK has made its screening formula public and straightforward, giving candidates enough time to prepare wisely. To boost your chances:

  • Upload your results properly.
  • Understand how your grades are scored.
  • Pay attention to every instruction.

In competitive courses like Medicine, Law, Engineering, and Pharmacy, even a few points can determine who gets admitted.
