UNIPORT Opens 2025/2026 Postgraduate Admissions for Security, Intelligence, and Maritime Studies
The University of Port Harcourt’s Institute of Niger Delta Studies (INDS) has officially begun its 2025/2026 postgraduate admissions, offering specialized programmes in Security and Intelligence Studies as well as Blue Economy and Maritime Studies.
The institute, established in June 2011, is known for producing problem-solvers who combine academic knowledge with real-world expertise. From tackling security challenges in the Niger Delta to managing marine and coastal resources, these programmes prepare students for both local and global career opportunities.

Admission Requirements
PGD in Security and Intelligence Studies – Minimum of a third-class degree or HND Upper Credit in any field.
M.Sc. in Security and Intelligence Studies – Minimum of a second-class honours degree in any field.
PhD in Security and Intelligence Studies – Master’s degree in Security and Intelligence Studies, Sociology, or Law with a minimum CGPA of 3.50.
PGD in Blue Economy and Maritime Studies – Minimum of a third-class degree or HND Upper Credit in any field.
M.Sc. in Blue Economy and Maritime Studies – Second-class honours degree in Geography, Environmental Management, Economics, Animal/Plant Science, Biotechnology, Transport, Logistics, or Management Sciences.
Programme Duration
- PGD: 12 months
- M.Sc.: 12 months (full-time) or 24 months (part-time)
- PhD: 24 months (full-time) or 36 months (part-time)
