UNIMED Issues Urgent Scam Alert Over Fake Admission Letters

The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo, has raised a fresh alarm over the circulation of fake admission letters targeting unsuspecting candidates and parents. The institution warned that fraudsters are using text messages, emails, and social media platforms to trick applicants into believing they have secured admission.

UNIMED’s Official Statement

According to the university’s management, UNIMED does not send admission letters through email, SMS, WhatsApp, or Telegram groups. The only legitimate source for checking admission status is the  UNIMED admission portal.

The school emphasized that it does not partner with admission agents, third-party groups, or middlemen. Admission into UNIMED is handled strictly in-house and based only on merit, not on money or connections.

Why Students Must Be Careful

Scammers often disguise themselves as university officials or “helpers” with inside connections. They use convincing messages to lure candidates into paying for non-existent slots. Falling for such schemes could mean losing money, time, and peace of mind.

UNIMED reminded applicants that genuine admission is earned, not bought, and advised all students to remain vigilant.

How to Confirm a Real Admission Offer

The university outlined clear steps for candidates and parents to avoid falling victim:

  • Always check admission status on the official UNIMED portal.
  • Do not click on suspicious links or respond to unknown admission-related messages.
  • Never pay anyone claiming they can secure admission.
  • When in doubt, contact the university directly.

For extra security, UNIMED provided two official helplines: 07051212222 and 08135513654.

Final Word to Parents and Students

The management stressed that this is not the first time scammers are attempting to exploit admission seekers. However, with awareness and caution, candidates can protect themselves.

“Admission into UNIMED is only through our official platform. Anything else is fake and should be ignored,” the school stated firmly.
