UNILAG Opens Registration for 2024/2025 Academic Session: What New Students Need to Know
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has officially opened its registration process for newly admitted students in the 2024/2025 academic session. This registration is crucial for all UTME and Direct Entry candidates. The process is divided into several key stages to ensure smooth registration and screening. Here’s everything you need to know.
Key Dates for Registration
Registration will take place in two phases:
- Phase 1: Monday, 2nd December 2024 – Friday, 20th December 2024
- Phase 2: Monday, 6th January 2025 – Friday, 24th January 2025
Candidates are encouraged to complete their registration as early as possible to avoid any delays.
Step-by-Step Guide to the Registration Process
Step 1: Book Your Registration Appointment
To begin, candidates must schedule their registration appointment through the UNILAG Student Portal. Here’s how:
- Log in using your JAMB Number or Application Number as your username and your surname (in lowercase) as your password.
- Change your password after logging in for security purposes.
- Click on the “Appointment” menu, then select “New Appointment.”
- Choose the appropriate appointment for your faculty and select a date and time.
- Click “Schedule Appointment” and print your booking slip.
This slip will be required at the registration venue, so keep it handy!
Step 2: Upload Required Documents
Next, you’ll need to upload several documents to complete your registration. Here’s the list of documents you must upload:
- Log in to the UNILAG Student Portal using the credentials provided in Stage 1.
- Fill out the bio-data form and print the screening form.
- JAMB Admission Letter
- O’Level Result (WAEC/NECO)
- Testimonial from your secondary school
- Direct Entry candidates: Previous degree certificate
- Birth Certificate
- Letter of Reference (addressed to the Registrar)
- State of Origin Certificate
Make sure you upload original copies, as these will be needed for verification later.
Step 3: Attend the Screening
On your scheduled date, make sure to show up for the screening. You will need to bring the following documents (in two copies each):
- Screening form from Stage 2
- UNILAG online application form (for Direct Entry candidates)
- JAMB acknowledgment slip (Direct Entry only)
- JAMB Admission Letter
- UTME result slip (not required for Direct Entry candidates)
- Post-UTME result slip
- JUPEB, A-Level, OND, HND, or BSc result slip (Direct Entry only)
- O’Level Result Certificate (no online printouts accepted)
- Letter of Reference (for lawyers) on official letterhead with NBA seal
- Birth Certificate
- Testimonial from your secondary school
- State of Origin Certificate (must match the one used for JAMB registration)
- Twelve passport photographs with your full name written on the back
Don’t forget to bring the original copies of all your credentials for verification.
Step 4: Payment of Fees
After completing the screening, candidates will need to generate a payment advice on the UNILAG portal. You can make the payment at any bank using the generated payment slip.
Step 5: Faculty and Departmental Registration
Once your fees are paid, visit your respective faculty and department to complete the final registration steps.
Important Reminders:
- No Impersonation: Impersonation during the registration process will lead to immediate forfeiture of admission and potential legal action.
- Zero Tolerance for Drug Use: UNILAG conducts mandatory drug tests for all newly admitted students. Failure to undergo the test or testing positive will result in the withdrawal of your admission.
- Matriculation and Orientation: Dates for matriculation and orientation programs will be announced soon.
