UNILAG Opens Hostel Applications for Second Semester 2024/2025 — What Students Must Know


The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced the official opening of hostel accommodation applications for the second semester of the 2024/2025 academic session. With a short window to apply, students are urged to act fast and follow the process carefully.

  • Application Opens: 12:00 a.m., Sunday, April 27, 2025
  • Application Closes: 11:59 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2025
  • Balloting Date: Thursday, May 1, 2025
  • Payment Deadline: One week after bed space is allocated
  • Move-in Date: To be announced by the Dean of Student Affairs

Who is Eligible to Apply?

Only students who meet all of the following requirements are allowed to apply for hostel space:

  • Completion of course registration for the 2024/2025 academic session
  • Must be within the official duration of their academic programme
  • Full payment of all fees, including the LAGMOBILE fee

Any student who does not meet these conditions will be automatically disqualified from applying.


How to Apply

Applications must be submitted through the student portal.
The portal will be open only from Sunday, April 27 to Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

Late applications will not be accepted under any circumstance.


How Bed Spaces Will Be Allocated

All eligible applicants will be entered into a randomized digital ballot.
This means hostel spaces will be assigned by a computer-based lottery system.

Only students who apply within the official time frame will be included in the ballot.


What to Do If You Get a Bed Space

If you are successful in the ballot, you must:

  • Make payment for the allocated bed space within one week
  • Follow the payment procedure that will be provided after the ballot
  • Note that failure to pay within the deadline will result in losing the space to another student

Restrictions to Note

The following students are not permitted to apply for hostel space:

  • Those currently residing in El-Kanemi Hall 2
  • Gbajabiamila Hall residents
  • Women Society Hall occupants
  • And students staying in similar non-standard hostels

The Student Affairs Division maintains a complete list of these students.
Anyone found violating this rule will face disciplinary action under the Students’ Disciplinary Board.
