UNILAG Issues Urgent Alert Over Fake Officer Targeting Postgraduate Applicants
The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has issued an urgent warning to applicants and members of the public after uncovering an impersonator falsely claiming ties with its School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS).
According to an official statement, the individual—who identifies himself as “Dr. Taiwo (UNILAG)” and uses the phone number +234 902 659 1695—has been contacting applicants with false promises of influencing postgraduate admissions.
UNILAG confirmed that the claims are entirely fraudulent and clarified that the individual has no connection with the SPGS or any department within the University. His information has already been forwarded to security authorities for investigation.
Applicants Advised to Avoid Admission Middlemen
The institution strongly cautions postgraduate applicants, current students, and the general public to avoid any contact with the impersonator or anyone claiming to provide shortcuts, admission influence, or course placement support.
UNILAG emphasized that its postgraduate admission processes follow strict and transparent guidelines, and no external individual can alter, accelerate, or influence outcomes in any way.
Use Only Official UNILAG Channels
To ensure safe communication and accurate information, the School of Postgraduate Studies advises applicants to rely strictly on the university’s verified platforms for all enquiries. These include:
- Official SPGS Website: spgs.unilag.edu.ng
- Email: [email protected]
- Phone: 08090931788
- WhatsApp Support: 08090931800
UNILAG reiterated that staying within approved channels protects applicants from fraud and maintains the integrity of its academic processes.
