UNIJOS Releases Full Schedule for 35th & 36th Convocation and Golden Jubilee Celebration

The University of Jos (UNIJOS) has officially unveiled the comprehensive schedule for its highly anticipated 35th and 36th Combined Convocation Ceremony, which will also feature activities marking the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the institution. The events will run from Thursday, December 11, to Saturday, December 13, 2025, with the grand convocation set for Saturday.

In a statement signed on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tanko Ishaya, the university confirmed that the convocation will include the award of Certificates, Diplomas, First Degrees, Higher Degrees, and Honorary Doctorate Degrees, marking a major milestone in the institution’s 50-year history.


Golden Jubilee Week: Full Schedule

Day One — Thursday, 11 December 2025

50th Anniversary Celebration Activities – 3:00 PM
Venue: Social Sciences Auditorium, Naraguta Campus

The opening day will feature a lineup of anniversary activities across UNIJOS campuses. The highlight of the day is the Anniversary Lecture, to be delivered by General Christopher Gwabin Musa, Nigeria’s Minister of Defence.

Day Two — Friday, 12 December 2025

Convocation Lecture – 2:00 PM
Venue: Ailya Ahwe Doma Indoor Theatre, Naraguta Campus

The Convocation Lecture will be delivered by Hon. Dr. Bosun Tijani, Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

Lecture Chairman:
Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Golden Jubilee Dinner – 6:00 PM
Venue: Eliel Centre, Gold & Base, Rayfield
Chairman: Sen. Grace Folashade Bent, CON, Pro-Chancellor & Chairman of the Governing Council.

Day Three — Saturday, 13 December 2025

Combined Convocation Ceremony – 10:00 AM
Venue: Jeremiah Useni Stadium, Naraguta Campus

The final day will host the official convocation ceremony, featuring the graduation and formal award of academic and honorary distinctions to deserving students and honorees.

As UNIJOS marks five decades of academic excellence, the institution promises a historic and memorable three-day celebration that reflects its growth, resilience, and commitment to educational advancement.
