UNIABUJA Announces End-of-Year Break for Staff and Students, Activities Resume January 5
The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has officially approved an end-of-year break for staff and students, suspending all academic and administrative activities to allow the university community observe the festive season and prepare for the new year.
UNIABUJA End-of-Year Break: What You Need to Know
According to a statement from the university management, UNIABUJA will be closed for all academic and administrative operations from Wednesday, December 17, 2025, to Sunday, January 4, 2026.
During this period:
- Lectures will not hold
- Official meetings are suspended
- Offices across the university will remain closed
Normal academic and administrative activities are scheduled to resume on Monday, January 5, 2026, when students and staff are expected to return to campus and continue their duties.
Essential Staff Exempted from the Break
While the closure applies broadly across the institution, the university clarified that staff assigned to essential services are exempted from the break. These include personnel in:
- Safety Unit
- Health Services
- Works and Services
- Other critical departments and units
Affected staff are required to remain at their duty posts throughout the holiday period to ensure uninterrupted essential operations on campus.
Management Extends Festive Greetings
The announcement, issued by the Acting Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the Council, Senate, and Management, also conveyed warm Christmas greetings and best wishes for a prosperous New Year to all members of the UNIABUJA community.
University authorities urged students and staff to use the break responsibly and return promptly for the continuation of academic activities in the new year.
