TSU Jalingo Orders Freshers to Reprint Hostel Slips, Bans Cash Payments for 2025/2026 Accommodation
Taraba State University (TSU), Jalingo has issued a firm directive to all newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session, warning that no hostel space will be confirmed without an updated reservation slip and that all cash payments for accommodation are strictly banned.
The notice, signed by the Dean of Students, Dr. Atando Dauda Agbu, and dated January 10, 2026, was released by the Student Affairs Division and is already reshaping how students must process their campus housing.
University officials say the move is aimed at eliminating fraud, confusion, and exploitation in the hostel allocation system.
Who the directive affects
The notice applies to all newly admitted students, including:
- 100-level UTME candidates
- 200-level Direct Entry students
It also serves as guidance for parents and guardians, who are often involved in accommodation payments and logistics.
TSU: Reprint your updated hostel reservation slip
TSU has instructed all students who previously reserved bed spaces in certain hostels to reprint their updated reservation slips from the university portal before reporting for verification.
The halls affected are:
- Zenith Hall
- Presidential Hall
- TETFUND 2013 Hall
- TETFUND 2014 Hall
- JJT Hall
According to the university, hall officers will not verify any bed space without this updated slip.
In practical terms, if you don’t bring the reprinted slip, your hostel reservation cannot be validated — even if you paid earlier.
The school also warned students to treat the directive “with all seriousness that it deserves.”
TSU bans all cash payments for hostel accommodation
In a strong anti-fraud move, TSU has prohibited cash payments for hostel accommodation to any individual, whether on or off campus.
All payments must now be made only through the official TSU online payment channels.
The university made three things clear:
- TSU will not be responsible for any money lost through cash transactions
- Students who pay cash for hostel spaces will face disciplinary action
- Anyone who collects cash for hostel allocation will also be sanctioned
This means that even if someone claims to be a staff member or hostel agent, paying them cash puts the student at risk of losing both the money and the bed space.
Why TSU is tightening hostel controls
By insisting on portal-generated slips and online payments only, the university is trying to:
- Eliminate middlemen and racketeering
- Protect students from scams
- Create a transparent and traceable hostel allocation system
For freshers arriving on campus, this policy sets the rules clearly: no slip, no verification; no online payment, no bed space.
