Sahara Power Academy Invites Applications for 2025 Graduate Engineers

November 2025: The Sahara Power Technical and Innovation Academy has officially opened applications for its 2025 intake, targeting passionate engineering graduates eager to shape Nigeria’s electricity and energy sector.

The academy is part of Sahara Power Group (SPG), Sub-Saharan Africa’s largest privately owned, vertically integrated power company, which plans to expand its generation capacity to over 5,000 MW by 2026.


About the Sahara Graduate Engineering Programme

The Sahara Graduate Engineering Programme offers graduates structured technical training, hands-on project experience, and mentorship from industry experts. Designed for individuals who love engineering, problem-solving, and long-term energy careers, the programme spans key SPG assets, including Egbin Power Plc—the largest thermal power plant in Sub-Saharan Africa outside South Africa—and FIPL.

Participants will gain:

  • Daily exposure to real assets and control systems
  • Technical tasks linking classroom knowledge with on-site projects
  • Close mentorship from experienced engineers
  • Rotational experience across operations, maintenance, planning, and support units

Training Locations

Ikorodu, Lagos: Trainees will work in Lagos’ vibrant commercial hub, gaining practical experience on high-capacity equipment and advanced control systems.

Port Harcourt, Rivers State: Trainees in Port Harcourt will operate near core generation assets and infrastructure supporting the national grid, providing an in-depth view of large-scale energy operations.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field
  • 0–1 year of related work experience
  • Completion of NYSC on or before December 2025
