Presidential Committee Unveils ₦10 Million ‘Excellence in Tax Reform Reporting Award’ to Honour Journalists and Creators
The Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee has launched the Excellence in Tax Reform Reporting Award, a national recognition initiative aimed at celebrating journalists, influencers, and digital storytellers whose work promotes a factual and balanced understanding of Nigeria’s tax reform process.
The award, according to the Committee, seeks to highlight responsible storytelling that strengthens public trust and enhances citizens’ grasp of how fiscal policies shape Nigeria’s economy and development.
Empowering Media for National Dialogue
Speaking during the official unveiling, Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, underscored the crucial role of the media in shaping national conversations.
“By supporting journalists and content creators, we aim to foster fair reporting that promotes accountability and helps citizens understand how government reforms affect their daily lives,” Oyedele stated.
The award reflects the Committee’s broader vision to empower the media and online community to drive credible, data-driven narratives that inspire public confidence in Nigeria’s ongoing fiscal reforms.
Who Can Apply?
The competition is open to Nigerian journalists across print, broadcast, and online platforms. It also welcomes digital influencers, bloggers, and podcasters actively creating content on Nigeria’s tax and fiscal reforms.
Entry Requirements
Participants must submit works published between July 1 and December 31, 2025, in any of the following formats:
- Articles, videos, podcasts, or online reports explaining or analyzing Nigeria’s tax reform.
- Entries may be in English, Pidgin, Hausa, Igbo, or Yoruba, but must include English translations where necessary.
- Audio and video submissions should not exceed 10 minutes in length.
Award Categories and Prizes
The Excellence in Tax Reform Reporting Award offers some of the most substantial journalism prizes in the country:

Evaluation Criteria
Entries will be assessed by an independent panel based on:
- Accuracy and Technical Correctness – Ensuring facts and context are credible.
- Balance and Fairness – Presenting multiple viewpoints objectively.
- Clarity and Accessibility – Simplifying complex fiscal topics for public understanding.
- Public Engagement – Measuring audience reach, reactions, and conversations generated.
- Creativity – Demonstrating originality in storytelling and presentation style.
Awards Gala and Broadcast
Winners will be celebrated at a national awards gala in Lagos or Abuja, to be broadcast on major television networks and livestreamed on YouTube and X Spaces. The event promises to attract leading figures from government, the media, and civil society.
