NUC Approves Six New Academic Programmes for Federal University of Lafia
In a significant stride towards academic expansion, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved six new full-time degree programmes for the Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA). These newly accredited courses will commence in the 2025/2026 academic session, marking another milestone in the university’s commitment to providing diverse educational opportunities for students.
A Step Forward in Academic Growth
According to the university’s management, the NUC’s approval followed a successful resource verification exercise carried out by panels of experts who assessed the institution’s human and material resources. The exercise confirmed that FULAFIA has the required capacity to effectively run the new programmes.
List of Newly Approved Programmes
The six new degree programmes approved for take-off at FULAFIA include:
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B)
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)
- Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying (B.Sc.)
- Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning (B.Sc.)
- Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics (B.Sc.)
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.)
These programmes broaden FULAFIA’s academic offerings across law, health sciences, environmental studies, and agricultural sciences, equipping students with knowledge and skills relevant to modern professional fields.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, expressed profound appreciation to the NUC for its support and consistent guidance. He also commended the Director of Academic Planning, Professor Ilemona Adofu, and the dedicated staff whose efforts ensured the successful accreditation of the new courses.
