Northwest University Kano Sets Strict Rules for Certificate Collection: Graduates Must Return Gowns, Pay N10,000
Graduates of Northwest University Kano will need to meet a new set of clearly defined requirements before they can collect their certificates, the institution has announced. The university says the process is designed to ensure full academic clearance and proper documentation, warning that incomplete submissions could delay certificate issuance.
Here’s what every graduate needs to know.
Gown return is mandatory
The university has made the return of academic gowns a non-negotiable condition. Graduates must submit their gowns and present official proof of return before their certificates can be released.
According to the guidelines, certificate processing will not begin without verified evidence that the gown has been returned or cleared.
Required documents for certificate collection
To collect a certificate, graduates must appear with original copies of specific documents. These include:
- Original statement of result
- Original student identity card
- Evidence of payment of N10,000 certificate fee, verified by both the Bursary Department and the Faculty
- Proof of gown return or official clearance
University officials stress that missing any of these items may result in delays, as full compliance is required for successful processing.
Payment and verification process
Graduates are required to pay a N10,000 certificate fee. The payment must be validated by the university’s Bursary Department and endorsed by the relevant Faculty before a certificate can be issued.
This dual verification step is part of the institution’s clearance procedure to confirm that all financial and academic obligations have been met.
Certificates must be collected in person
The university has also ruled out proxy collection. Certificates will only be handed over directly to the graduate concerned.
Officials say this in-person policy is intended to protect the integrity and security of academic records.
Certificates issued only once
In a strong advisory, the university warned that each certificate will be issued only once. Requests for replacement due to loss or damage will not be entertained.
Graduates are therefore urged to store their certificates carefully after collection.
With these guidelines now in effect, graduates are encouraged to prepare all required documents and complete their clearance early to avoid last-minute complications. The university maintains that strict adherence to the process will ensure a smooth and timely certificate collection experience.
