Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Begins Application for 77th Regular Course – How to Apply and What You Need to Know

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has officially opened applications for the 77th Regular Course. This is an exciting opportunity for Nigerian youth, both male and female, who meet the eligibility requirements to join the prestigious academy and start a career in the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Who Can Apply?

To apply for the NDA 77th Regular Course, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Age Requirement: Applicants must be between 17 and 21 years old as of August 2025.
  • Educational Qualifications: Candidates must have at least five O-level credits, including English and Mathematics, in exams such as WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB. These results must be obtained in no more than two sittings.
  • UTME Performance: Applicants must have sat for the JAMB UTME exam and met the national cut-off mark. For Arts, Social Sciences, and Sciences, the minimum score is 180, while Engineering courses require a minimum score of 210.
  • Physical Fitness: Applicants should be medically and physically fit.
  • Height Requirements: Male candidates must be at least 1.68 meters tall, while female candidates must be at least 1.65 meters tall.
  • Other Requirements: You must be single, without legal obligations to support a child or dependents, and provide a Certificate of Indigeneship from your state or local government.

Screening Test and Important Dates

  • Screening Test Date: The first stage of the NDA selection process is the screening test, which will take place on Saturday, 24 May 2025. To participate, you must:
  • Have your Screening Test Admission Card (which you can print after qualifying).
  • Bring along your JAMB result slip, two passport-sized photographs, and an Acknowledgement Form.
  • Your photos should be 3.5 x 5 inches, showing your face and shoulders. On the back of each photo, write your name, exam number, state, exam centre, course of study, and signature.

Only those who pass the screening test will proceed to the next phase: the Armed Forces Selection Board. The final list of successful candidates will be announced later.

How to Apply for NDA 77th Regular Course

  • Application Period: Applications are open from 6 November 2024 to 30 April 2025.
  • Application Process:
  • Visit the NDA application portal.
  • Select “Purchase Access Code” and enter your details.
  • Pay ₦3,500 via REMITA using the generated ORDER ID and RRR code.
  • Complete the online application form.

Please note that the payment must be made via the RRR codes generated on the portal. Applications without valid O-level results or those with awaiting results will not be accepted.

Training and Duration

Successful applicants will undergo a five-year program at the NDA. This includes both military and academic training, and upon completion, cadets will earn a degree (BSc, BEng, or BA). After graduation, they will be commissioned as officers in the Nigerian Armed Forces.

Important Notes

  • No Awaiting Results: Only candidates with completed O-level results (not older than five years) will be considered.
  • Only Nigerian Citizens: The program is open to Nigerian citizens only.
  • Application and JAMB: Applicants must also apply to JAMB and select NDA as their first choice.

Cost of Training

All costs related to training, logistics, and administration for Regular Course cadets will be covered by the Nigerian government. However, cadets are considered full-time students, not employees, and are not entitled to employment rights if they withdraw or are dismissed before their commissioning.
