NBTE Grants Fresh Accreditation, Approves New Courses for Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic
Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo, has secured fresh approvals from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), strengthening its academic profile with full accreditation for existing programmes and clearance to launch several new ones.
The approvals followed a comprehensive NBTE accreditation visit to the institution between November 3 and 6, 2025, during which facilities, staffing, equipment, and academic processes were thoroughly assessed.
Full Accreditation Granted for Key Programmes
In a major boost to the polytechnic, NBTE granted full accreditation for a five-year period to the following programmes:
- Higher National Diploma (HND) Science Laboratory Technology – Microbiology option
- National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) Business Administration
- Higher National Diploma (HND) Urban and Regional Planning
According to NBTE, the accreditation was awarded after the institution met required standards in infrastructure, teaching personnel, learning resources, laboratories, libraries, and academic records.
NBTE Approves New ND and HND Programmes
Beyond revalidating existing courses, the Board also approved Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic to introduce new programmes at both National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels.
Newly Approved Programmes Include:
- ND Public Administration
- HND Strategic Communication and Media Studies
- HND Film and Multimedia Production
- HND Marketing
- HND Networking and Cloud Computing
- HND Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology – Power and Machines option
- HND Science Laboratory Technology – Chemistry option

These new courses span technology, applied sciences, management, media, and creative studies, aligning with current industry demands and workforce needs.
NBTE Issues Important Reminder
NBTE reminded the polytechnic that all newly approved programmes must undergo full accreditation at the appropriate time. The Board warned that failure to invite NBTE for accreditation within the stipulated period could result in the withdrawal of approval to admit students into those programmes.
The Board explained that its accreditation process typically involves detailed inspections of:
- Classrooms and lecture halls
- Laboratories and workshops
- Libraries and learning materials
- Equipment and facilities
- Staff qualifications and records
- Academic procedures and standards
During the November 2025 visit, NBTE teams evaluated buildings, staff strength, quality of equipment, and overall academic operations.
Rector Commends NBTE, Staff
Reacting to the development, the Rector of the polytechnic, Engr. Mobolaji Onasanya, expressed appreciation to NBTE for its confidence in the institution.
He also commended members of staff for their dedication and consistent efforts in meeting national academic standards.
According to him, the approvals reflect the institution’s strong commitment to quality teaching, skills development, and practical learning. He noted that students would benefit from a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on training designed to reflect real workplace conditions.
What This Means for Prospective Students
The latest accreditations and programme expansions are expected to make Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic more attractive to prospective students in upcoming admission cycles.
With a wider range of approved courses and renewed NBTE confidence, the institution is positioning itself as a growing hub for technical, professional, and creative education, while maintaining a focus on quality and relevance.
