LASU Issues Warning Over Fake Admission Emails Targeting Students
Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, has raised an urgent alert about fraudulent emails being circulated to deceive unsuspecting admission seekers.
The university confirmed that the fake emails, disguised as official communication, falsely claim to offer admission and demand acceptance fee payments through suspicious links that have no connection to LASU.
Fake Admission Emails in Circulation
According to LASU management, the fraudulent messages are being sent from email addresses that do not belong to the institution or the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Students and parents are advised to note that authentic LASU emails always end with “@lasu.edu.ng” and not from free domains such as Gmail or Yahoo. This, the school says, is the first sign of a scam.
False Admission Offers
The emails reportedly go as far as listing candidates as admitted into LASU, but the university has confirmed that such names were never shortlisted for admission.
LASU stressed that genuine admission offers can only be verified through JAMB CAPS or the official LASU admission portal. Any claim outside these channels is fake.
Clarification on Payment Platforms
The university also restated that it does not send payment links through emails. All official payments, including acceptance fees and tuition, must be made only via LASU’s official e-payment platform.
Any other payment request should be treated as fraudulent.
Protecting LASU’s Image
Management described the scam as the handiwork of criminal elements seeking to mislead candidates and tarnish the university’s reputation. The institution reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability in its admission process.
LASU’s Advice to the Public
To safeguard students and families, LASU issued the following warnings:
- Ignore any email offering admission outside JAMB CAPS or LASU’s official portal.
- Do not click on suspicious links or share personal details with unknown senders.
- Report any fraudulent message immediately to LASU authorities.
Final Word
LASU assured the public that its admission process remains open, transparent, and properly supervised. Candidates are urged to remain vigilant and rely only on verified platforms for admission updates.
As the saying goes, “If it looks too easy, it is probably a trick.”
