The Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) is officially inviting applications for two senior leadership positions: College Secretary and Financial Controller. These are prestigious, full-time roles — and only experienced, goal-driven professionals need apply.
This recruitment exercise is being conducted by LASUCOM’s Court of Governors, representing the University Council. Here’s everything you need to know to grab this opportunity.
Available Positions
1. College Secretary
Eligibility Criteria:
- A First Degree (minimum of Second-Class Lower) from a recognized university.
- A Master’s Degree in a relevant field (compulsory).
- At least 15 years of work experience, with 3 years as Deputy Registrar in a recognized tertiary institution.
- NYSC discharge or valid exemption certificate.
- Five O’Level credits, including English and Mathematics.
- Membership of ANUPA required. Additional professional memberships like ICSAN, NIM, or CIPM will be an added advantage.
- Excellent understanding of medical college operations.
- Strong ICT proficiency.
Job Functions:
- Coordinate and supervise the administrative operations of the College.
- Ensure compliance with university policies and government regulations.
- Serve as Secretary to strategic organs like the Court of Governors and Academic Board.
- Oversee records, correspondence, and reports.
- Maintain effective communication among the College community and external stakeholders.
2. Financial Controller
Eligibility Criteria:
- A Bachelor’s degree (minimum Second-Class Lower) in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Mandatory possession of professional certification: ICAN, ACA, ACMA, or ANAN.
- A Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
- Valid NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
- Minimum 12 years of post-qualification experience, with at least 5 years in senior financial management roles.
- Minimum 3 years as Deputy Bursar or equivalent in a tertiary institution.
- Proficiency in budgeting, auditing, financial reporting, and compliance with government policies.
- Advanced knowledge of accounting software and ERP systems.
Job Functions:
- Prepare and manage annual budgets.
- Monitor expenditures and oversee income streams.
- Conduct audits and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Recommend cost-saving initiatives.
- Supervise finance units and advise the Provost and Governing Council on financial matters.
Duration & Age Limit
- Initial appointment is for 2 years, renewable for an additional 2 years based on performance.
- Applicants must not be older than 60 years by October 1, 2025.
