Lagos — Lagos State University (LASU) has issued a strong statement after a viral video titled “Bandits Prank on Lasuites” sparked widespread concern among students and staff.

The video, released by Datreez Entertainment TV on Friday, December 5, 2025, shows individuals dressed in costumes and carrying objects resembling tactical gear as they walked into the campus. The unsettling visuals triggered alarm among students, with many suspecting a possible security threat.

As the clip continued circulating online, the university community demanded clarity—prompting LASU management to release an official response.


LASU Disowns Video, Says No Approval Was Granted

In its statement, LASU emphasized that the university did not approve the recording or publication of the video. According to management, the content creators entered the campus without authorization, violating established procedures for filming within university premises.

The institution condemned the act, noting that such stunts can disrupt peace, heighten fear, and jeopardize the emotional well-being of students.

University Condemns Fear-Generating Content Amid Heightened Security Concerns

LASU management stated that it does not support any content that suggests banditry, terrorism, or activities capable of causing panic.
At a time when security concerns remain sensitive across Nigeria, the institution described the prank as “reckless and irresponsible.”

The university also urged online creators to show professionalism, follow campus rules, and avoid stunts that could be misinterpreted as real threats.

LASU Reaffirms Campus Safety Measures, Issues Guidance to Students

Reassuring the public, LASU reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a safe, calm, and secure learning environment for all students and staff.

The management advised students to:

  • Stay alert to their surroundings
  • Report suspicious movement or unfamiliar visitors
  • Immediately contact the LASU Security Unit if anything unusual is observed

Authorities say these simple safety steps can significantly improve campus protection.
