Kick Against Laxity Foundation Opens 2025 Essay Writing Contest for Nigerian Youths
The Kick Against Laxity Foundation has announced the opening of entries for its 2025 Essay Writing Contest, calling on young Nigerians to share their voices through thoughtful and relatable writing.
The theme for this year’s edition is “Environment and Identity: How Where We Grow Shapes Who We Become.” The contest encourages participants to reflect on how their surroundings—home, community, and upbringing—influence their values, dreams, and sense of identity.
Who Can Participate
The competition is open to Nigerians aged 15 to 29, regardless of their region or background. Each participant is expected to express real-life experiences and insights in a respectful and reflective tone.
According to the organisers, the goal is to inspire a culture of clear thinking, honest storytelling, and mutual learning among young people.
Theme and Focus
Writers are required to focus on the set theme:
“Environment and Identity: How Where We Grow Shapes Who We Become.”
Essays should explore how family, education, and social environments shape one’s character and aspirations. Short, vivid stories drawn from daily life are encouraged, alongside clear arguments supported by simple examples. The foundation advises entrants to use straightforward language and ensure their essays are under 1,000 words.
