Kaduna State Releases Revised 2025/2026 Academic Calendar for All Schools

Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority (KSSQAA) has officially released the revised academic calendar for the 2025/2026 session, covering all public and private basic and post-basic schools in the state. The announcement comes as parents, students, and school administrators prepare for the new school year.

The calendar, signed by Professor Usman Abubakar-Zaria, Director-General of KSSQAA, clearly outlines term start and end dates, holidays, and early details for the 2026/2027 session. KSSQAA emphasized that all schools, regardless of ownership, must adhere strictly to the dates provided.


Who Must Follow the Calendar

KSSQAA clarified that the calendar applies to:

  • All public basic and post-basic schools in Kaduna State
  • All private basic and post-basic schools in the state

This ensures uniformity across the state, preventing discrepancies in school schedules.

2025/2026 Session Breakdown

First Term 2025

  • Term: Sunday, 7 September 2025 – Friday, 12 December 2025 (14 academic weeks)
  • Holiday: Saturday, 13 December 2025 – Sunday, 11 January 2026 (4 weeks)

Second Term 2026

  • Term: Monday, 12 January 2026 – Wednesday, 18 March 2026 (10 academic weeks)
  • Holiday: Wednesday, 18 March 2026 – Sunday, 12 April 2026 (3 weeks)

Note: The term ends and holiday begins on 18 March, so parents should confirm school-specific closing activities.

Third Term 2026

  • Term: Sunday, 12 April 2026 – Friday, 24 July 2026 (15 academic weeks)
  • Long Holiday: Saturday, 25 July 2026 – Sunday, 6 September 2026 (6 weeks)

The third term is the longest and concludes the 2025/2026 session.

KSSQAA has provided an early view of the 2026/2027 session:

  • First Term: Sunday, 6 September 2026 – Friday, 18 December 2026 (15 academic weeks)

The new term begins immediately after the long holiday, ensuring a seamless transition between sessions.
