If you’re a Nigerian student living in Canada or North America, there’s exciting news for you. JAMB UTME centre Canada 2027 is becoming reality. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced plans to establish a UTME examination centre in Ottawa, Canada, starting in 2027. This initiative aims to provide easier access for eligible Nigerians in the diaspora who want to pursue university education without travelling all the way back to Nigeria just to sit for their exams.
Why JAMB is Opening a UTME Centre in Canada
For years, Nigerian students living abroad have faced a significant challenge: they either had to return to Nigeria to sit for the UTME or miss out on university admission opportunities entirely. The new UTME centre in Ottawa addresses this barrier. Furthermore, JAMB recognises that the Nigerian diaspora community is substantial, and many young people want to apply to Nigerian universities while maintaining their lives abroad.
According to Premium Times Nigeria, this initiative will reduce barriers and provide more access to the UTME for diaspora Nigerians. The examination body made this announcement via an official tweet in early October 2026.

- Cost savings: Reduced travel and accommodation expenses
- Convenience: Sit for exams closer to home in Canada’s capital
- Same standards: The examination will maintain JAMB’s usual quality and validity
