JAMB Sets Strict 2025 Admission Deadlines for Universities and Other Institutions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the deadlines for the 2025/2026 admission cycle — and this time, there’s no room for delay.

At the 2025 JAMB Policy Meeting, chaired by the Minister of Education, it was resolved that all tertiary institutions in Nigeria must complete their admission processes before the end of the year.

This decision comes as part of efforts to bring order and stability to Nigeria’s academic calendar, ensuring that all students have a fair and structured admission process.

Full Admission Deadline Schedule

Here’s the timeline JAMB has approved for 2025 admissions:

  • Public universities: October 31, 2025
  • Private universities: November 30, 2025
  • Other institutions (public and private polytechnics, colleges, etc.): December 31, 2025

According to JAMB, there will be no extension of these dates. Schools are expected to release their admission lists early, even if lectures are scheduled to begin later.

Why This Matters

For years, inconsistencies in admission timelines have left students stranded. Some institutions delay their processes while others move faster, creating confusion and uncertainty for candidates.

This new timetable is designed to:

  • Level the playing field so that all students have equal opportunities.
  • Prevent academic disruption caused by prolonged admissions.
  • Encourage transparency and accountability among institutions.

Post-UTME Screening Must End Early

JAMB also issued a strong warning to institutions conducting post-UTME. All screening exercises must be completed in time to meet the new deadlines — no late rush, no waiting games.

What This Means for Students

For students, the message is clear:

  • Act fast once admission lists are released.
  • Stay alert for updates from your chosen institution.
  • Don’t wait until the last minute — because this time, there will be no grace period.

The countdown has already started. As JAMB puts it, “admit and archive.”

Bottom Line: JAMB’s 2025 admission deadlines are strict and final. Public universities must finish by October, private universities by November, and all other institutions by December. Students and schools alike must keep pace — because once the clock runs out, admissions for 2025 are closed.
