JAMB Announces “Cut-Off Marks” For Admission into Varsities, Polytechnics

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the minimum cut-off marks for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions for the 2024/2025 academic session. These benchmarks were established during the 2024 Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria.

1. Universities: 140/400 (35%)
2. Polytechnics: 100/400 (25%)
3. Colleges of Education: 100/400 (25%)
4. Innovative Enterprise Institutions: 100/400 (25%)

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, emphasized that these scores are the minimum thresholds, and institutions are at liberty to raise their admission cut-off marks above these levels. He also noted that no institution is allowed to set its admission cut-off mark below the approved minimum score.

The Board reiterated its commitment to ensuring a transparent and fair admission process. Institutions are expected to adhere strictly to merit, giving consideration to catchment areas and educationally disadvantaged states in their admission procedures.

Candidates are advised to check with their chosen institutions for specific departmental cut-off marks, as these may vary and be higher than the general institutional minimum.
