JAMB 2025 Top Scorers Revealed: Anambra Candidate Leads with 375, But Controversy Strikes!
At the highly anticipated 2025 JAMB Policy Meeting in Abuja, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) proudly unveiled the top ten scorers from this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). But what was meant to be a celebration quickly turned into a scandal.
Top of the Chart: Okeke Chinedu Christian
Leading the 2025 UTME scoreboard is Okeke Chinedu Christian from Anambra State, who scored an impressive 375. Okeke applied to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) and seemed destined for academic glory.
However, JAMB’s announcement didn’t end there—and what followed shook the audience.
Something Doesn’t Add Up
According to JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Okeke’s records sparked suspicion. Upon further investigation, the board discovered a shocking twist: Okeke is already a medical student at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN)—and has been for the past four years.
Prof. Oloyede revealed that UNN confirmed Okeke never withdrew or requested a transfer, yet he sat for the 2025 UTME like a fresh applicant.
“This kind of academic misrepresentation is unacceptable,” the JAMB Registrar said.
As a result, the matter has been referred to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). JAMB has recommended that Okeke be barred from practising as a medical doctor under such suspicious academic circumstances.
Bright Stars Amid the Shadows
Despite the controversy, the 2025 UTME also showcased the brilliance of other young Nigerians. Below is the full list of the Top 10 UTME Scorers this year:
