IAUE Orders Final-Year Students to Complete NERD Registration for NYSC

The management of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUE) has announced that all final-year and outgone students who have not yet participated in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme must complete their enrolment on the Nigeria Education and Repository Databank (NERD).

According to the university, this directive follows the Federal Government’s policy making NERD registration a mandatory requirement for all NYSC mobilization and national verification exercises.

What Is the NERD Platform?

The NERD platform, established by the Federal Government of Nigeria, is a national academic database designed for educational record verification. It plays a central role in the National Credentials Verification Service (NCVS) and ensures that academic credentials submitted for NYSC or other national programmes are authentic and traceable.

With this system, graduates’ academic information will be securely stored, verified, and easily accessed for national use — reducing fraud and improving transparency in credential verification.

IAUE ICT Centre to Support Registration

To make the process easier, IAUE’s ICT Centre and the Students’ Affairs Division have been directed to assist students facing technical difficulties during registration.
In addition, the NERD technical team will provide further guidance and updates to ensure that every eligible student completes the process without stress.

The university further advised students to update their email addresses and phone numbers on the student portal. This ensures smooth communication with both the University authorities and NERD administrators.

Important Information for NYSC Prospective Corps Members

IAUE clarified that students who are part of the 2025 Batch Prospective Corps Members are exempted from submitting the NERD clearance slip during NYSC registration.
However, they are still required to complete the NERD enrolment and upload their academic credentials for verification through the National Credentials Verification Service (NCVS).

Compliance Is Mandatory

The University management emphasized that NERD registration is compulsory for all final-year and outgone students.
Failure to comply could result in delays or disqualification from NYSC mobilisation and other national programmes that depend on verified academic records.

Students are therefore advised to begin their registration immediately and ensure they meet all requirements before deadlines are announced.
