FUTMINNA Students’ Union Issues Strong Warning: Avoid NEOLIFE Activities on and Around Campus

The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA) has issued a firm advisory warning all students to stay away from a group known as NEOLIFE, which has reportedly been approaching students on and around the university campus.

In a notice circulated to the student community, the Union stressed that any form of engagement with the group — including meetings, sign-ups, or so-called “business” discussions — could negatively affect students’ academic focus and overall safety.

“Students must remain focused on their academic goals and understand their boundaries,” the Union stated.

How NEOLIFE Approaches Students

According to the Students’ Union, members of NEOLIFE often approach students in corporate-looking outfits or uniforms, giving the impression of legitimacy and professionalism.

However, the Union cautioned that appearances can be misleading. It warned that the group may use manipulative language and false claims to lure students into their activities, which the Union described as potentially dangerous and academically disruptive.

What Students Should Do If Approached

The FUTMINNA Students’ Union was clear and direct: do not engage.

Students who are approached by NEOLIFE members are advised to immediately step away, keep a safe distance, and report the incident to any of the following:

  • Any Students’ Union Government (SUG) representative
  • Lecturers
  • Appropriate school authorities
  • Campus Security

The Union emphasized that quick reporting is crucial, noting that silence or delay can allow repeated approaches and put more students at risk.

Approved Alternative: Campus Entrepreneurship Centre

For students genuinely interested in learning skills, earning income, or developing professionally, the Union pointed to a safer and approved option — the Campus Entrepreneurship Centre.

Students are encouraged to focus on career-relevant skills directly connected to their field of study, including:

  • Software and digital technology skills
  • Structural design and drafting tools
  • Approved vocational and technical skills
  • Other course-related professional competencies

According to the Union, these skills can strengthen academic performance, boost employability, and prepare students for life after graduation.

Safety and Academics Come First

The FUTMINNA Students’ Union reaffirmed its commitment to student welfare, safety, and academic success. It urged all students to remain vigilant and disciplined.

“Stay alert. Stay focused. Not every opportunity is real — some distractions come dressed as success,” the advisory concluded.

Students are encouraged to prioritize their education, report suspicious approaches, and rely only on approved university channels for skill development and career growth.
