FUTA and UN-ARCSSTE-E Open Applications for 2024/2025 Postgraduate Programmes

The Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) has partnered with the United Nations African Regional Centre for Space Science and Technology Education-English (UN-ARCSSTE-E) to offer postgraduate programmes for the 2024/2025 academic session. These programmes are designed to equip students with cutting-edge knowledge in space science and technology, providing excellent career opportunities in various sectors.
Available Programmes
The following programmes are available for the 2024/2025 session:
- Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Satellite Communications
Programme Features
- Duration: 18 months
- Study Mode: Full-time coursework and research

Admission Requirements
Prospective candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Qualifications: A minimum of Second Class Lower in any discipline (preferably in the sciences) from a recognized university.
- NYSC Completion: Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or possession of an exemption certificate.
- HND Holders: HND holders with Upper Credit in a relevant Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programme may also be considered.

Graduation Requirements
To successfully graduate, students must:
- Achieve a minimum of 50% in both coursework and the M.Tech thesis project, in line with FUTA’s postgraduate regulations.
- Complete the required course units for each programme:
- Satellite Communication and Basic Space Physics: 44 course units
- Satellite Meteorology: 42 course units
- Remote Sensing and GIS: 48 course units
- Present two thesis seminars (proposal and final presentation).
- Complete and defend a research thesis during an oral examination.

Fees and Payment Plan
- Admission Acceptance Fee: ₦25,000
- Tuition Fee: ₦350,000
Payment Plan:
- At least 60% of the tuition fee must be paid before the start of classes.
- The remaining balance is due before the end of the first semester.
