FUHSA Releases New Transfer Guidelines for 2025: See Requirements, Fees, and How to Apply

The Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare (FUHSA) has officially released new guidelines for intra-university (course change) and inter-university transfers. This announcement followed the Senate’s 32nd sitting held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

For students dreaming of switching courses within FUHSA or transferring from another institution, the door is now open—but under strict rules and with clear fees attached.

How to Apply for FUHSA Transfers

The application process begins online through the FUHSA applicant portal. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Fill out the online transfer or course-change form.
  • Upload all required supporting documents before submission.
  • Ensure you have at least five O’Level credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Confirm that there is space available in your desired course, as no extra slots will be created.

Academic Standards and Requirements

Your academic record plays a huge role in the approval process.

  • Every applicant must provide an official transcript.
  • For Medicine (MBBS) and Dentistry (BDS), a minimum CGPA of 4.01 is required.
  • For Nursing and other courses, a CGPA of at least 3.50 is acceptable.

Additionally:

  • Applicants must obtain clearance from their current Department, Faculty, and University.
  • Approval must also be secured from the new Department and Faculty before FUHSA’s central authority gives final confirmation.

FUHSA Transfer Fees (Non-Refundable)

Money matters, and FUHSA has clearly outlined the charges:

  • Change of Course Form (within FUHSA): ₦50,000
  • Acceptance Fee (within FUHSA): ₦250,000
  • Transfer from Public Universities in Nigeria: ₦500,000
  • Transfer from Private Universities in Nigeria: ₦2,500,000
  • Transfer from Foreign Universities: ₦3,000,000

Students must also ensure they have completed all pre-requisite courses for their new department.

Other Important Rules

  • Transfers must be regularised with JAMB, including submission of an indemnity form.
  • Each student is allowed to transfer only once, so decisions must be carefully considered.

Final Word

FUHSA’s updated transfer policy offers students a pathway to a fresh start—but only those who meet the requirements and can afford the fees will succeed. The process is official, the rules are strict, and the opportunities are limited.

So, is it worth making the switch? That’s a question only you can answer. But for those ready to take the leap, the chance is here—clear, structured, and open.
