The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) is thrilled to announce that applications are now open for the 2025 Next Generation Internship Programme (NGIP). This is a fantastic chance for young professionals in West Africa to develop their skills and become future leaders in civil society.

What is the WACSI Next Generation Internship Programme?

Founded in 2008, WACSI is a key regional non-governmental organization dedicated to strengthening civil society in West Africa. The NGIP aims to provide practical, structured training for recent graduates and early-career professionals who are passionate about making a difference.

During this six-month internship, selected candidates will engage deeply with WACSI’s projects, enhancing their abilities in leadership, program management, and addressing crucial development issues.

What Will Interns Do?

Interns at WACSI will take on a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Supporting Project Design: Assisting in the creation and implementation of assessment tools and training programs.
  • Participating in Program Planning: Helping with proposal development and collaborative projects across different teams.
  • Administrative Tasks: Managing budgets, organizing events, and keeping track of activities.
  • Liaising with Partners: Acting as a bridge between WACSI and its partners and beneficiaries.
  • Creating Training Materials: Developing resources like toolkits and training modules.
  • Research and Reporting: Conducting research, writing reports, and summarizing ongoing programs.
  • Policy Development: Assisting in the creation of policy tools and participating in policy meetings.

What Are the Benefits?

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the NGIP, candidates must:

  • Be a citizen of Nigeria, Senegal, or Cape Verde.
  • Hold at least a first degree in international affairs, political science, law, public policy, development studies, or related fields.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in civil society and non-profit management.
  • Have excellent proficiency in English, French, or Portuguese, and a working knowledge of another language is a plus.

Application Details

The internship will take place from January to June 2025. To be considered, applicants must complete the entire six-month program; failing to do so may require a refund of the internship costs.
