Enugu State Announces 2025 Scholarship Awards for Indigenes
November 13, 2025 – The Enugu State Scholarship and Education Loans Board (ESSELB), under the supervision of Prof. Ndubueze Mbah, Honourable Commissioner for Education, has officially opened applications for the 2025 Enugu State Scholarship Awards. The scholarships are generously approved by His Excellency, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.
Eligible indigenes of Enugu State can now apply across three scholarship categories:
- Undergraduate Scholarship: 500 slots available for students in 100 and 200 levels at any tertiary institution in Nigeria.
- Teachers’ Scholarship: 1,000 slots for indigenous teachers in Enugu State Government schools pursuing a Master’s degree, with a mandatory 10-year teaching commitment after the scholarship.
- Postgraduate Scholarship: 100 slots for Master’s and PhD students in Nigerian universities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a confirmed indigene of Enugu State.
- Possess a valid admission for undergraduate or postgraduate studies, or employment as a teacher for the teachers’ scholarship.
- Be admitted for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Required Documents
Applicants must provide:
- LGA of Origin Identification Letter
- Valid Admission Letter
- Letter of Acceptance of Admission
- Attestation Letter from Traditional Ruler (HRH)
- Employment Letter (for teachers only)
- Passport Photograph
Note: Applications without all required documents will NOT be considered.

- Fill in your details and upload all required documents as one PDF file (max 2MB)
- Submit your application
Application Deadlines:
- Undergraduate & Postgraduate: 14th November – 28th November 2025 (12:00 am)
- Teachers: 14th November – 8th December 2025
The scholarship examination will be conducted online (CBT), allowing applicants to participate from anywhere. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the online exam. A stable internet connection is required.
Inclusivity: Visually impaired students in 100 and 200 levels are encouraged to apply.
