Boys Without Borders Nigeria invites male university students to take a stand for equality through the second edition of the Chidera Anushiem Essay Competition.

In a bid to celebrate the 2025 International Day of the Boy-Child, Boys Without Borders Nigeria is excited to announce the second edition of the Chidera Anushiem Essay Competition. This competition provides an incredible platform for male undergraduate students across Nigeria to share their voices and perspectives on challenging harmful stereotypes and advocating for equality.

Essay Topic: Challenging Harmful Stereotypes – Becoming Allies in the Fight for Equality

This year’s theme encourages participants to critically examine the stereotypes that restrict both boys and girls, and how young men can become allies in breaking these barriers. As the world continues to make strides toward gender equality, it is essential for boys to play an active role in dismantling the misconceptions that perpetuate inequality.

The Chidera Anushiem Essay Competition offers not only the opportunity for intellectual engagement but also exciting rewards for outstanding participants:

  • 2nd Place: N50,000

How to Participate:

Eligibility:
This competition is open to male undergraduate students currently enrolled in Nigerian universities.

Submission Requirements:

  • Essay Length: 800 to 1,000 words.
  • Topic: Focus on “Challenging Harmful Stereotypes: Becoming Allies in the Fight for Equality.”
  • Deadline: All entries must be submitted between March 3, 2025, and March 31, 2025.
  • Identification: A photo ID is required to accompany the submission. If you do not have a photo ID, an alternative document that includes your name, photo, and school name will be accepted.
  • Format: Essays must include a title and word count. Do not include your name or school on the essay itself—this will be collected via the submission form to ensure anonymity.
  • Plagiarism: Any plagiarized work will be disqualified.

Top 10 entries will be shortlisted, and selected participants will be invited to a special conference, where they will engage in further discussions and networking with mentors.
