Empowering Women in Public Health: Nigeria Launches Fully Funded Leadership Programme
Women in Nigeria’s public health sector now have an exciting opportunity to enhance their leadership skills, with the launch of the Nigeria Leadership Journey, a fully funded programme aimed at empowering women in the field. In partnership with WomenLift Health and the Women in Leadership Advancement Network (WILAN), this 12-month initiative is set to transform the careers of women already making a difference in public health.
A Unique Opportunity for Mid-Career Women in Public Health
The Nigeria Leadership Journey is designed for mid- to senior-level women working in public health policy, practice, or research. The programme’s goal is to equip participants with the tools, mentorship, and network to tackle complex health challenges, advance their leadership potential, and enhance their influence within the sector.
Over the course of 12 months, participants will engage in a mix of virtual sessions, one-on-one mentoring, coaching, and self-directed projects. In addition, the programme includes two exclusive in-person residencies, offering a deeper, hands-on learning experience.
Residencies to Look Forward To
- Immersion Programme (August 25–27, 2025)
- Lift-Off Programme (April 9–10, 2026)
These residencies will provide participants with a chance to collaborate in person, exchange ideas, and gain insights from some of the most influential leaders in public health, both locally and globally.
Comprehensive Support for Future Leaders
One of the key highlights of the programme is that all costs are covered, including travel and accommodation for participants. This ensures that the selected women can focus entirely on their leadership development without worrying about financial barriers.
The programme also offers access to a lifelong network of leaders at local, regional, and global levels—creating lasting opportunities for collaboration and professional growth.
