DELSU Declares Christmas Holiday for Staff and Students, Sets January 5 Resumption Date
Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, has officially announced a Christmas holiday for all staff and students, offering the university community a seasonal break ahead of the new year.
The decision was confirmed in a special bulletin released on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. According to the announcement, the holiday will begin on Monday, December 22, 2025, and run through Friday, January 2, 2026.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, stated that while academic and routine administrative activities will be on hold during the period, essential university units will remain operational to handle critical duties.
Full academic and administrative activities are scheduled to resume on Monday, January 5, 2026. Students have been advised to return to campus ahead of the resumption date to adequately prepare for lectures and other academic engagements.
Speaking on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, and Management, Professor Asagba extended Christmas greetings to staff and students. He noted that the holiday period is intended to provide time for rest, reflection, and renewed strength as the university community prepares for the year ahead.
