DELSU Approves 2026 Work-Study Aid Scheme to Support Indigent Undergraduates
Delta State University (DELSU) has rolled out a fresh financial support window for students.
The Management of Delta State University, under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Samuel Ogheneovo Asagba, has officially approved the 2026 DELSU Work-Study Aid Scheme, an on-campus, part-time programme designed to help indigent undergraduates earn a steady monthly allowance while pursuing their studies.
The initiative is targeted at students facing financial difficulties and is structured to ensure that academic work remains the top priority.
What the DELSU Work-Study Aid Scheme Offers
Under the scheme, selected students will be assigned to approved university units where they will perform general, non-hazardous support services. These are safe, basic administrative and support tasks that do not expose students to risk.
Importantly, the programme is strictly part-time and on-campus, allowing beneficiaries to work only a few hours weekly without disrupting lectures or examinations.
Who Is Eligible?
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be a registered full-time undergraduate of DELSU
- Demonstrate genuine financial need
- Have a minimum CGPA of 2.40
- Possess no serious disciplinary record
Work Hours and Academic Balance
The university has emphasized that work schedules will be arranged around lecture periods. This ensures that participation in the scheme does not interfere with academic performance.
In simple terms: school comes first.
Students Given Priority
Consideration will be given first to:
- Indigent students
- Students without existing scholarships
- Candidates recommended by their Departments or the Student Affairs Division
