BUK Expels 60 Students Over Alleged Examination Misconduct
Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has expelled 60 students across various departments following findings of alleged examination misconduct, marking one of the institution’s most decisive disciplinary actions in recent years.
The decision was reached during the 431st meeting of the University Senate, held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, after recommendations were submitted by relevant academic and disciplinary committees.

The Senate explained that the committees responsible for handling examination offences carefully reviewed each case and recommended expulsion in line with existing university regulations. These recommendations were subsequently approved by the Senate, making the decision final and enforceable.

- Category 20.17 (Ai–xiii) of the General Examinations and Academic Regulations (GEAR)
- Section 3.4.2 (Ai–xi) of the General Regulations Governing Postgraduate Studies (GRGPS)
These sections clearly outline penalties for examination-related offences, including expulsion where misconduct is proven.
