Bingham University Set to Graduate 1,576 Students as Institution Celebrates 20 Years of Academic Excellence
Bingham University is preparing for a major milestone as it announces the graduation of 1,576 students during its 6th Convocation Ceremony, which also doubles as the institution’s 20th Anniversary Celebration. The university’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kuje Ayuba, revealed this during a pre-convocation press briefing held ahead of the November 2025 event.
Speaking at the briefing, Prof. Ayuba described the twin celebration as “a moment of reflection, thanksgiving, and renewed commitment to academic excellence.” He emphasized that the occasion celebrates both the achievements of the new graduates and the university’s transformational journey since its founding in 2005 by the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA).
A Growing Institution: 15 Faculties, 63 Departments, 107 Academic Programmes
Highlighting the university’s expansion over the last two decades, Prof. Ayuba reaffirmed Bingham University’s mission to raise graduates who are academically sound, skilled, self-reliant, and God-fearing.
The university currently operates:
- 15 Faculties
- 63 Departments
- 48 Undergraduate programmes
- 59 Postgraduate programmes
While the main campus is located in Karu, Nasarawa State, its College of Medical Sciences and Teaching Hospital operate from Jos, Plateau State.
Convocation Week Lineup: Lectures, Exhibitions, Sports, and Awards
The Vice-Chancellor outlined a week-long schedule of activities leading to the grand convocation ceremony on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the University Chapel.
Planned activities include:
- A thanksgiving church service
- Convocation lecture
- Project commissioning
- Photo exhibition
- Essay competition
- Sports activities
- Vice-Chancellor’s luncheon and awards
A special 20-chapter publication titled “Bingham University @ 20” will also be unveiled, highlighting the institution’s academic evolution, innovation strides, and national impact.
Graduation Breakdown: 1,116 Undergraduates, 460 Postgraduates
Of the 1,576 graduands, the university will award:
- 1,116 undergraduate degrees
- 460 postgraduate degrees and diplomas
Prof. Ayuba noted that these figures reflect the steady academic growth of the institution and its increasing relevance in Nigeria’s higher-education landscape.
Strengthening Innovation and Skills: A Shift Toward Knowledge-Based Education
The Vice-Chancellor emphasized Bingham University’s strategic move toward a knowledge-driven education system, powered by units such as:
- Centre for Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development
- Various research centers focused on innovation, skill acquisition, and societal impact
He expressed confidence that graduates are better equipped for modern challenges with this renewed focus.
Addressing Challenges: Power Supply, Funding, and Sustainability
On operational challenges, Prof. Ayuba acknowledged that the institution—like many others in the sector—faces issues linked to funding and electricity supply.
To mitigate this, Bingham University has:
- Migrated to the Band A electricity category for improved power supply
- Adopted prudent financial strategies to maintain infrastructure and sustain growth
Student Welfare and Academic Excellence Remain Priority
Prof. Ayuba reiterated management’s commitment to promoting both academic and spiritual development, stressing that student welfare, discipline, and holistic growth remain central to the university’s mission.
He commended the National Universities Commission (NUC) for introducing the Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS), which integrates digital, AI, and employability skills into university programmes — describing the reforms as “timely and transformative.”

In his remarks, the Registrar, Mr. Daburi Bello Misal, expressed gratitude to the media for their consistent support.
